Located Online
I operate out of Kansas City, Missouri, but all my appointments are virtual for now!
The benefit of this is that for many clients, different seasons of life make it hard or impossible to travel to a physical location for anything, let alone therapy. At Jordan Christian Counseling, you can still access quality therapy that allows for optimal privacy in the comfort of your safe space and the convenience of not having to travel.
My online services are available to you whether you’re local to Kansas City, elsewhere in Missouri, or overseas!
I do this because I believe that healing and hope should be available and accessible to all of those who are seeking them.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
-
EMDR helps the client (you) resume healing for things, such as deep trauma, that feel unreachable or unhealable. EMDR combines guided mental processing of unpleasant memories or experiences while also focusing the body on external, physical stimuli such as directed lateral eye movements (such as following your therapists’s finger back and forth). Other methods are also used such as audio stimulation or hand tapping. Jordan Christian Counseling uses pulsing pads for the hands that you hold!
-
The EMDR Institute states:
“EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.”
If you find yourself in repetitive pain, or a therapist has helped you recognize deep, unhealed trauma, EMDR can be used to help your healing progress.
Certified Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT)
-
ICEEFT describes EFT as the following:
“Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a unique and highly effective form of therapy that helps people understand and improve their emotional connection with themselves and others. Developed in the 1980s, EFT is based on the principle that our emotions are central to our experiences and relationships. It suggests that we are naturally designed to have a secure sense of who we are and a sense of self we can trust and rely on. This solid base allows for strong, supportive bonds with others, and when these bonds are secure, we tend to be happier and healthier.”
You can find this excerpt and more information here.
-
The benefits of EFT are many! From couples to families to individuals, EFT can help us gain a deeper understanding of emotions, how they influence us, and how to better understand others.
When we can better understand others and ourselves, we build confidence and deeper connections and are more confident in who we are and in our relationships. If you find yourself struggling in these areas, you may find EFT very beneficial.

Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
-
The AEDP Institute describes AEDP as,
“Crisis and suffering provide opportunities to awaken extraordinary capacities that otherwise might lie dormant, unknown, and untapped. The AEDP model is about experientially making the most of these opportunities for both trauma processing and healing transformation.”You can find this excerpt and more details about AEDP here.
-
AEDP can be beneficial to those experiencing depression, trouble regulating emotions, negative thoughts, or those who may have experienced past trauma that now leads to avoidance of certain people and situations or causes relational problems - as well as many other scenarios!
Each of these methods can be used in any therapy session at Jordan Christian Counseling. Your therapist will be able to hear what you may benefit from the most, and together, you can formulate a plan for how to progress in your healing using any one of these methods.
